How to keep the kids entertained on a caravan holiday

Thinking of booking a caravan holiday but are worried your kids won’t enjoy it? Don’t panic! We’ve listed four great ways to keep the kids entertained to ensure you all have a wonderful time away.

Keep the journey short

The journey to your caravan park can easily set the tone for the rest of your holiday. If you’re travelling in the summer, motorways are bound to be busy and delays or tailbacks will make your journey longer than it needs to be. If this tests your patience, imagine how your children will feel!

If long journeys are unavoidable, pack plenty of snacks, make regular stops or even consider splitting the journey up over two days. This way, you could get an early start on the second day to beat the rush.

Pack some home comforts

Once you’ve reached your caravan, you want the whole family to settle in as soon as possible, so don’t forget to pack some home comforts for the kids. A favourite teddy bear, blanket or book are some good ideas, but be sure to pack some toys and games to keep them occupied throughout your stay as well.

Visit Fantasy Island

Kids need stimulation and fresh air, so rather than keeping them cooped up in the caravan all week long, make sure you have plenty of days out organised. What’s more, if you wear them out, they are bound to fall asleep quickly after a long day outdoors!

If you’re heading to Skegness, Fantasy Island is the perfect trip for the whole family, with numerous rides, shops and market stalls to explore. We even have Adventure and Little Explorer rides for the littlest members of the family and Discovery rides for the adrenaline junkies.

Prepare for rainy days

Thanks to the unpredictable nature of the weather in the UK, it’s possible that you’ll get a few rainy days or showers during your caravan holiday. Even if the forecast looks good, it’s always better to be prepared so you’re not caught out at the last minute. Stock up on some board games and DVDs that the whole family will enjoy to keep the little ones occupied.

Caravan holidays are a lot of fun, so it’s no surprise that more people are choosing to holiday in the UK. If you’re looking to purchase a caravan, get in touch with us at Fantasy Island for more information.
