Mellors Group kicks off 2025 Go Green initiative with community beach clean

As part of its growing Go Green Initiative, Mellors Group—operators of Fantasy Island and Skegness Pier—has continued its 2025 environmental campaign with a successful community-led Beach Clean on Tuesday 29th April.

The event brought together over 40 volunteers, including more than 30 team members from Fantasy Island and Skegness Pier and a number of local residents, who joined forces to clear litter along Skegness Beach. The clean-up, organised in partnership with Coastal Access For All and the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, began at Skegness Pier and continued north along the coastline.

This marks the first of three Beach Cleans planned for the season, demonstrating Mellors Group’s commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement. The initiative also responds to wider concerns for marine and wildlife protection following the recent North Sea Tanker collision, which brought environmental threats to the forefront.

Heidi Watson, Senior Marketing Coordinator at Mellors Group, said:
“At Mellors Group, we’re passionate about protecting our coastline—not just for the benefit of wildlife, but for the thousands of families, locals, and visitors who enjoy it each year. The turnout today shows just how powerful community action can be, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us, including those involved in recent recovery efforts along the coast.”

Phil Gaskell of Coastal Access For All added:
“We’ve been organising volunteer beach cleans for 12 years, and it’s fantastic to now have the support of such a well-known business. Mellors Group’s involvement is helping to raise awareness and encourage even more people to take part.”

The Beach Clean forms part of a broader 2025 Go Green Initiative, which also includes the rollout of recyclable iCards and refillable drinks cups designed to cut down on single-use plastics across both Fantasy Island and Skegness Pier. With more sustainability announcements planned throughout the year, Mellors Group is reinforcing its role as an active, environmentally-conscious presence in the Skegness community.
